The Swiss artisans
of the brand

Founded as a precision graphic workshop in 1974 in the watchmaking and museography sectors, the agency >moser design in Lausanne has long specialized in brand visual identity and signage. Managed and directed for nearly thirty years by Caroline Mesple-Moser, daughter of the founder, the company, which defines itself as “the Swiss artisans of the brand,” is celebrating a double milestone this year: its fifty years of experience and the integration of the visual communication agency Bontron&Co’s team into its premises.

The logos of EPFL, SwissTech, or EHL, which shine worldwide, as well as those of Retraites Populaires, CGN, HEMU, Genedis, Bloom, and Gaudard Energie, are just the visible tip of the iceberg when it comes to the signature of >moser. This is because, over the years, this communication agency has elevated numerous entities and products across countless fields. Moreover, the creation of a logo represents the culmination of a participatory process combining creative sensitivity and pragmatism in defining a brand’s essence.

Based for 40 years in spacious and light-filled premises at Rue du Simplon 3d in Lausanne, with an additional office in Geneva, >moser has been among the leading agencies in Switzerland for over fifteen years, mastering all aspects of brand signage and expression. The Lausanne-based company has also developed new products and services, such as olfactory identity, introduced six years ago. This innovative approach enhances a brand’s memory through a pleasant scent in addition to its verbal, visual, and auditory identity. The agency is celebrating its golden jubilee in a constantly evolving sector with the creation of an exceptional rosé wine fully branded in collaboration with winemaker Gilles Wannaz.

The company currently employs twelve people, a multidisciplinary team consisting of branding strategists, graphic designers, typographers, digital media specialists, project managers, and more. It also includes an apprentice, reflecting the agency’s strong belief in the value of dual education, which offers young people a fast track into the workforce. The agency is therefore relatively modest in size compared to communication industry giants. “We are committed to maintaining a size that fosters direct dialogue and enables us to share our expertise,” explains Caroline Mesple-Moser. “This allows for highly personalized proposals and ensures a certain level of responsiveness.”

A hub of expertise

Its clientele knows no borders, but the company is deeply committed to its region, actively participating in the local economic fabric and serving on numerous committees, including that of the Lausanne Regional Economy Association. Over its fifty years of existence, >moser design has built a robust network of partners, including specialists in printing, programming, social media, signage installation, lighting, and journalism. Recently, it embraced new opportunities by welcoming the team from Bontron&Co into its Lausanne premises. This partnership between the two independent agencies is aimed at fostering complementarity and synergies to enhance creativity and manage a significant influx of projects.

With a similar team size, Bontron&Co brings expertise in editorial direction and media, including a photographer on staff and the establishment of a new photography studio. “Two teams, 25 people in one location, create a collaborative mix—a hub of expertise that enriches our creativity and stimulates inspiration” enthuses Caroline Mesple-Moser. “This approach prioritizes the exchange of experiences, transforming the agency into a hub while strengthening existing collaborations, such as with the social media agency Up to you, and sparking new partnerships.”
